Murder of Nigerian in Lviv: witnesses found

20.02.2009
Police say that all police stations have an identikit picture of the likely murderer, however they have not yet detained anybody

The Police reported on Friday that two witnesses have been found to the murder of the 25-year-old Nigerian man who was living in Lviv with his wife and small child. They say that all police stations have an identikit picture of the likely murderer, however they have not yet detained anybody.

As reported already, the victim was standing at a tram stop in Lviv with a female companion at 7 p.m. on Sunday 19 January. His murderer ran up and stabbed him in the neck.

After initial reports in the media that suggested a possible skinhead connection, the police were swift to rule this out.  They did not, unfortunately, explain how, without a murder suspect, they could be certain of this. They are however actively investigating the case.
