Criminal investigations against judges launched in Kharkiv and the Crimea

12.12.2008
In both these new cases, the judge is suspected of passing knowingly wrongful rulings

A criminal investigation has been launched by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor against a judge of one of the district courts in Kharkiv itself. The judge is suspected of passing a knowingly wrongful ruling in a civil suit brought by a residential construction cooperative claiming to have the ownership rights recognized to a land site of 75 hectares.

The Crimean Prosecutor has initiated a criminal investigation against a judge of the District Administrative Court of the Kyiv region on suspicion of having fabricated a ruling in favour of the defendant without holding court hearings while holding position of judge in a Simferopol court. The unlawful ruling has now been revoked, and the defendant now awaits another hearing.
