Amnesty International has published a statement on the Russian Section’s website condemning the court ruling on 26 September sentencing Lev Ponomaryov to three days imprisonment for organizing a picket in memory of the victims of the tragedy in Beslan
Amnesty International considers that the authorities have violated Ponomaryov’s civil rights. It considers him to be a prisoner of conscience and calls for his immediate release.
