Rally in memory of victims of the regime broken up in Belarus

In Minsk on 7 July the police broke up an unsanctioned picket organized in solidarity with the families of political prisoners and those who have disappeared without trace.

The opposition had organized their protest to mark the sixth anniversary of the disappearance of Dmitry Zavadsky, a cameraman for the Russian ORT television channel.

Several former officers in the Belarusian security services have been convicted over Zavadsky’s disappearance, but the motives for the crime remain unclear
